The 2025 Malawi Defence Force (MDF) Inter-Service Sports Competition, held from 5 to 9 May 2025 at MAFCO in Salima, brought energy, excitement, and a strong sense of unity as various MDF units competed across multiple sporting disciplines. The event showcased outstanding talent, teamwork, and athleticism, drawing the attention and support of stakeholders.
The Parachute Battalion stood out during the event, claiming top honors as the overall winners after an impressive display of performance across several sports disciplines.
Speaking at the event, The Malawi Defence Force Commander, General Dr Paul Valentino Phiri emphasized the importance of such sporting events in promoting physical fitness and teamwork. He encouraged participants to keep pushing themselves, aiming higher—even to international competitions. He also applauded the participation of women, noting their growing presence and performance in various sports.
Among the proud supporters of this year’s competition was Msilikali SACCO (MSACCO), which made a significant contribution of K5 million towards the event. The sponsorship was officially handed over to General Dr Paul Valentino Phiri by MSACCO Board Chairman, Colonel Alinine Simwaka. The financial support was part of MSACCO’s ongoing corporate social responsibility efforts and its dedication to promoting physical fitness and morale among men and women in uniform, a gesture the Commander appreciated while calling on more corporate partners to support similar initiatives in the future.
MSACCO’s presence at the event reflected its continued mission to stand with service members—not just in financial empowerment, but in every area that enhances their lives.
