On February 14, 2025, Msilikali SACCO participated in the HIV & AIDS Open Day Campaign organized by the Engineers Battalion of the Malawi Defence Force in Kasungu District. The event aimed at supporting the Malawi Government’s efforts in eradicating the HIV & AIDS pandemic, under the theme: ‘TAKE THE RIGHT PATH, TOGETHER WE REMEMBER, TOGETHER WE END AIDS’.
The event was attended by the Acting Commanding Officer, Major Mhone, Senior Chief Gogo Chalo Njombwa, the management of Msilikali SACCO, and other key stakeholders. The day began with a Big Walk from the Manyani Primary School grounds to the Engineers Battalion.
Other educational activities included poems, music, drama, cultural dances (such as gule wamkulu), and Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT). These activities aimed at raising awareness about the spread of HIV & AIDS, the dangers of unprotected sex, and the importance of prevention, treatment, and maintaining good health for those living with the virus.
Ms. Elsie Banda, representing MSACCO, thanked the Engineers Battalion for organizing the event. She highlighted that such initiatives play a vital role in eradicating HIV & AIDS in local communities. She also assured the organizers that MSACCO will continue to lead efforts in raising HIV & AIDS awareness as part of its commitment to curbing the disease’s spread.
